Christmas Day 2020 - and we pre-ordered (as currently necessary under the given conditions) for a family dinner - there were the sheep's cheese and meatloaf, the grill plate, the barbarian duck and an additional (with a preserved bay leaf that documented the quality ) Portion of red cabbage - not only that the collection was unbureaucratic and completely uncomplicated in compliance with the specifications ... the food (despite the transport in prepared containers due to the cold of the night) was sufficiently hot and, above all, very delicious - in this sense one Many thanks to the whole team, who worked very well for us in everything we experienced, combined with best wishes for a peaceful Christmas and a really happy new year with the promise that we will be happy to come back. Very tasty food, very friendly service. The portions are absolutely ample. Meat juicy and tender. We love the baked mushrooms. There is absolutely nothing to complain about. Nothing. Since reading the last reviews makes me bile: The catering industry is more than pinched in these times. Anyone who is upset about a € 4 delivery fee, or complains about "counted" croquettes, or the manner of "compensation" - these are real "First World Problems". Be happy if the companies are still around after all this time and if they actually manage to maintain their quality and keep the doors open, although it is very likely that personnel, operating and goods costs are often higher than the income from one Day can be achieved. It's a shame that "I'm sorry" is no longer worth anything in our society. I would say a sincere apology among people should do just fine with a forgotten sauce. Mistakes happen. For this 4 star deduction? Not justified! If it is so close (4 minutes by car) - why can't you come to the restaurant and pick up the sauce yourself? Maybe there would have been a thank you on site? A friendly, human approach to one another in days like these can work wonders - more love instead of hate please and fewer unqualified evaluations and if so, then appropriately and fairly and not just to harm someone. We wanted to treat ourselves to something for the second Advent today and therefore ordered from the forge. We both ordered the duck breast in orange sauce, but unfortunately the sauces that are essential for such a dish were missing. I was told on the phone that they are not a professional delivery service (4 euros are pretty useless for that) and that they are sorry and cannot deliver later (4 minutes by car). The only offer I was offered was that I would get a free sauce next time. Great, so next time there will be duck with twice orange sauce - very logical. I also said that it was very annoying and that the whole dish tasted so bland. There was just another "I'm sorry". I think they should have at least offered a voucher for a starter or dessert or a discount voucher. But in my opinion it is not possible to get paid for a service that you do not perform. Since it was not possible to deliver later, we could legally claim our money back. However, since the provider would certainly take a stand and that would be an additional effort that is not worthwhile, we refrain from doing so.

Our order was unfortunately delivered incomplete. Upon request, we were only offered to deliver the missing sauce with the next order. I wouldn't be so petty otherwise, but with a dish for 15.90 only dry meat with side dishes is a bit poor. We were advised that this is not a professional delivery service. The delivery fee of 4 euros is quite steep. For a total of 35 euros, I think that's cheeky. We would have liked to have at least one free dessert delivered 1-2 hours later as compensation. Am very disappointed.

ordered 3 dishes outside the home today. 2 were delivered, both incomplete. 1 dish was completely missing. It had to be delivered later. So we couldn't eat together. The food was lukewarm, leg of goose tough, red cabbage mini portion, orange sauce was completely missing. Dry baked potato, liquid sour cream, half-cooked croquettes. The peak: during the complaint by phone, the phone hung up in the middle of the conversation with the note that we could not expect the usual standard outside the home. Suggestion: First of all, establish a standard with the result that prices have to be adjusted upwards. Conclusion: worst out-of-home delivery ever. Actually, one star is already too many! However, the driver was very nice and delivered on time. He is not to blame. He was courteous and obliging.

There is always super delicious steak here, but it could be a few more croquettes, these are actually counted and a maximum of 6 end up on the plate.

Whether with friends or family, I always like to come back to the Alte Schmiede! The ambience is beautifully rustic, the staff very attentive and, above all, the food is exceptionally good (have now eaten through about 3/4 of the menu and have never had anything that didn't taste good). Keep up the good work, you are Lüneburg! :)

The steak was perfect - plus delicious salads from the salad bar. Quaint atmosphere. Should I ever be in Lüneburg again, I'll be happy to come back!

You are the best and we are proud to be your regular customers. The free salad buffet is great, even if it has often been cleaned up by other guests. But it was always replenished immediately. Keep it up.....!!!!

The steak house in LÜNEBURG is known and loved by many guests. The kitchen is well set up and gets to the point. A salad plate from the buffet is always included with the main course. The ambience is rustic and cozy, the staff attentive.

quiet, rustic atmosphere, large selection, delicious food, fresh salad bar, friendly service. Good price / performance ratio. We will definitely eat out here more often. Because of Corona you have a whole seating area (approx. 8 people) to yourself so that the distance is kept.

Still my favorite steak house in Lueneburg, though less so than in the past. Good (subjectively it feels like it was even better a few years ago), a bit pricey (they used to have unbeatable special offers years ago, seems not to be the case anymore).

Amazing meat dishes ( incredibly big and very tasty). As a big plus- salat bar which is included in the price of main food. Not crowded during a working days. Traditional German cuisine. It takes 15-20 minutes to wait main dishes. Standart selection of beers and other drinks. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.

An excellent restaurant with great service, atmosphere and high quality food at a reasonable price. The best "Bratkartoffeln" that I have eaten in Lüneburg. Strongly recommend.
